House Rules: Equipment

When time is not pressing, gear can be generally assumed to be available given the character's Resources skill matches the level of the item needed.

When time is pressing, or the character is "in situation", any gear normally carried should be listed as items carried. Trivial or obvious items can be assumed (like a wallet, keys, etc). Non-trivial or irregular items for a normal person (chalk, salt, silver bullets, etc) should be listed.

House Rules: Simple Protective Circles

Anyone with the proper knowledge can create a simple protective circle with the right materials and time. The creator must have the ability to draw the circle with something and also imbue the circle with at least a drop of blood. Note that these are simple circles and a Wizard, Sorcerer or Focused Practitioner can draw more potent circles.

Requirements:

  • Something to draw the circle with (chalk for example)
  • Space to draw the circle
  • 1 full minute to draw the circle (see below for time modifiers)

Effect:

  • Roll a Conviction total to determine the strength of the circle (per the ward rules). This becomes the effect level in the form of a block.
  • A circle will function against any wholly magical effect and a summoned / pure fae creature.
  • Attackers attempting to breach a circle can attempt to break them down in the same way as wards (apply successful shifts to reduce the strength of the circle instead of as effect).
  • A circle will remain in effect until it is broken.
  • A circle can be up to 1 yard in diameter for every 2 full points of Conviction skill

Modifiers:

  • +1 for using salt (requires double time to produce)
  • +/-X for using an appropriate item (situational depending on effect targetting it)
  • -1 per each additional person inside the circle
  • +1 for spending 5 minutes or more
  • -2 for spending less than 1 minute

Our Bay Area Peninsula

Diversity, progress, and change have been a cornerstone for the Bay Area, and for the Fae that live in this area.

Theme:
A Fae on Every Corner
Given its reputation, the diversity of the Bay Area creates a natural "hiding in plain sight" camouflage for many Fae that can pass for human.

Theme:
Split Down the Middle
The Bay Area is split between predominantly light (the peninsula) and dark (east bay).

Threat:
In the Shadow of the Big Quake
It is widely believed that someone is behind the earthquakes in an effort to align the ley lines.

Theme:
Power of the Gathering Storm
The bridges are a engineered like a supernatural lightning rod, drawing in arcane power to the select few able to decode their methods.

The Mundane Status Quo:
High Tech, yuppies, start ups, and big companies. There's always a "David and Goliath" story taking place somewhere.

The Supernatural Status Quo:
The Fae often walk openly, greeting each other and keeping minimal discretion.
A longstanding peace between the light and dark halves of the Bay Area has lasted for decades, with neither side seeing value in disrupting that.
